P71 VALISE The P71 Valise (Pattern 1871) was introduced to replace the various combinations of the 1854 Knapsack system that originated during the Napoleonic Wars. The new pattern was designed around the Martini Henry rifle which fires a metallic cartridge as opposed to the muzzle loading P53 Enfield. The P71 was to be a true load-bearing system balancing the different components in various combinations. The set is comprised of: One pair of braces (cross straps) One waistbelt with locket (buckle). Two ammo pouches . One bayonet frog. One expense pouch (ball bag). One canteen (mess tin) strap. One pair of greatcoat/blanket straps. One valise (backpack). One pair of valise support straps. All pieces are sold separately with a discount for purchasing the entire set. |
